Welcome to FALL
We have been busy with getting into our routines, Pre-Testing, and Patriot Games! If your student did not tell you about Patriot Games-ask!
Each student has recieved points for Working, being Organized, being Respectful, and being Kind. I am VERY proud of our class. These points can be used to buy things at the school store on Fridays or in a few weeks, the classroom store.
As long as a student remains referral free, he or she can participate in the next PBIS event (Fall Festival) scheduled for early November
ELA:
We are currrently working on Story Elements and everyone has developed their character(s) for a short story they will write. This week, we will continue to work on setting and move into problems and solutions.
Social Studies:
We have learned about landforms and are now learning about different types of goevernment around the world. Each student will soon research a country in class and make a "Passport" as a country project.
Homework!
Each Monday I will post your Reading Log and Sight Word Spelling List. I am sending home spelling lists for October 15th, with a quiz on Friday, October 19th.
- Spelling packets will be given in class and each child has the opportunity to finsh this in class. If your child is unable to complete it in class, I will have them take it home
- Spelling Quizes are going to be each Friday
- Reading Logs are differentiated per student
- I expect students to read for 15 minutes a night, Monday-Thursday
This Week at John Hanson:
Monday October 8-Friday October 12
Monday 10/08: No School
Tuesday 10/09: PICTURE DAY!!!! Interims issued at end of day
**There is a Science Field Trip scheduled for our class on October 19th-please look for the permission slip. Our ELA class will be going as a group.
As I get to know your students, I see more and more potential!
